When you show up at the track and go home with 3 gold medals, a buzz starts the fill the air. When you do it breaking national records, heads start to turn. When you do it before your 10th birthday, high school and college coaches go berserk.

When you do it as a little girl from Chester, Pa. you’re mostly ignored around town even after winning the 400 meter, 800 meter, and 1500 meter at a national championship meet.

Da’mire Allen has been setting the ground on fire ever since she was in booties. The Chester Cheetahs’ track phenom introduced herself to the track world at 7 years old when she broke a World Record running the 400 meter in 1 minute 8 seconds and has  since run a personal best of 1:02 at Widener in July. A couple months later she set the National Record in the 800 meter in 2 minutes 32 seconds and has run a personal best of 2:28, and at 1500 meters 5 minutes 9 seconds.

Unfortunately, youth track is mostly a travel sport and difficult to keep up with since it’s not well publicized and never featured in local newspapers. Obviously, it can get a bit costly to attend meets that occur almost every weekend (and on both days of the weekend) when at the peak of their seasons (indoor/outdoor).

But, you can watch the Chester Cheetahs practice at the Chester-Upland School District Athletic Field (The A-Field) on Concord Road and Lamokin Streets almost every afternoon and meet the coach and athletes. (Why do 35,000 people go to an Eagles practice? – I digress)…I know you can spend a few moments at a Cheetahs practice.

While there, give a small donation to the organization to help them defray the cost of attending these track meets. And, while you’re there, take a selfie with, and get an autograph from, Da’mire Allen while it’s still free.

Here are Da’mire Allen’s results from the indoor and outdoor seasons this past year.

If you can’t get to the meets, you can see how dominant Da’mire was a couple weeks ago breaking the national record for the 800. WARNING: You are not supposed to lap runners in an 800 meter race. I think it confused the cameraman.
