Student Wellness and Physical Education
CCCS has adopted the Archdiocese of Philadelphia’s school wellness policy and program. Base on this policy and program, CCCS’s wellness committee established the following specific guidelines:
- Classroom parties are to be limited in the amount of foods that contain added sugar as the first ingredient.
- Neither food nor beverages will be withheld from students as a punishment for poor academic or behavioral performance.
- The faculty is strongly encouraged to set a good example for the students in matters of wellness by consuming those foods that are in line with the school’s Wellness Program.
- No ala carte food items or beverages are to be offered.
- No vending machines are allowed in student accessible areas.
- CCCS will not sponsor fundraisers for foods high in sugar or fat, and encourages its PTA to do the same.
- CCCS will continue to educate its students, faculty and parents on Wellness issues.
- CCCS will encourage Parents/Guardians to provide healthy bagged lunches that limit the amount of foods that contain sugar as the first ingredient.
- CCCS will strive to provide opportunities for students to get 180 minutes (elementary) and 225 minutes (middle school) of physical activity per week per the PA Standards.
- CCCS will sponsor physical activity events.
