Summer Enrichment Camp (ESF Dream Camp)
For the fourth consecutive summer, forty-four students from CCCS attended the ESF Dream Camp for five weeks. Camp activities are conducted from 8:00AM to 4:00PM each day on the site of Girard College in Philadelphia. CCCS students take part in a variety of activities each day. These activities include the following:
- Academic activities – reading/writing, cultural awareness, social studies program called World Tours, and a science/nature program called Project Discovery.
- Enrichment activities – arts, crafts, sports (tennis, basketball, softball, track and field and indoor games), creative & performing arts (dance class in soul, hip-hop, gospel, and ragtime), special events (picture day, student talent shows), martial arts (karate), theme days (Wacky Wednesday, Fantastic Friday), and special guests.
- Social Development – proper greetings, proper attitudes, cooperation, and togetherness through spirited songs, games, and cheers.
- Parental Involvement – parents who enroll their children in camp are required to attend an orientation session held at Girard College. Additionally, the parents are kept informed through weekly reports on their children’s progress and experiences at the camp. The parents also will attend a culminating talent show during parent night.
