Attendance & Truancy

Dear Parents/Guardians and Scholars,

At Chester Community Charter School (CCCS) a major point of emphasis is placed on student attendance.  For your convenience, CCCS offers an online absence portal on our website which directly communicates parents to our Attendance Department.  CCCS looks to partner with parents and scholars as we strive to meet our school wide attendance goal of 95%.  Please utilize our website for additional information, view our attendance policy and to access all our online forms.

As the appointed attendance officer for the Chester Community Charter School, I have repeatedly come in contact with parents/guardians and students who express confusion about Pennsylvania attendance procedures and school attendance policies.  With a better understanding of these regulations, one can make informed decisions and avoid many of the issues that result from truancy.

The Chester Community Charter School enforces the Student Compulsory Attendance and Truancy Elimination Plan that was passed by the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania on August 8, 2006 (Basic Education Circular (BEC) 24 P.S. 13-1327). The Department of Education and all school schools in the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania are obligated to comply with State and Federal requirements for student attendance and truancy and maintain attendance records for all students.

Please review the FAQs below and feel free to contact me if you have further questions regarding attendance.

Sincerely,
Mr. Jerome Hardaway
Director of Attendance & Truancy
