CCCS Happenings FREE Book Fair for Teachers
This Veterans Day, CCCS celebrated our heroes in a special way! With the generous support of Book Smiles and Action Tank, we have filled our school buildings with a significant donation of books. Book Smiles, a nonprofit organization, distributes thousands of new and gently used books to children throughout the tri-state area. What began as a modest initiative by former English teacher Larry Abrams, who initially shared 500 books monthly, has now evolved into a remarkable operation delivering 85,000 books every month from South Jersey.
Since its founding in November 2017, Book Smiles has become one of the largest book banks in the U.S., providing nearly 1.5 million books to children in need, particularly in areas with limited access to reading materials. We are incredibly grateful to our very own Lisa Allen and Melonie Schmitt, along with our wonderful friends at Book Smiles and Action Tank, for their incredible generosity and commitment to service our school community.
