CCCS Spotlight- Coach Joseph Hollman

A Championship Season and a Lasting Legacy
The 2025–2026 basketball season will be remembered as one of the most remarkable in the history of Chester Community Charter School. Under the leadership of Head Coach Joseph Hollman, the CCCS basketball team captured the first-ever Kings of the Court Championship, finishing the season with an impressive 18–1 record.
The Kings of the Court tournament featured a single-elimination playoff format, with one team ultimately crowned champion. CCCS rose to the challenge, dominating the championship game and securing the title with a 20-point victory, bringing home the inaugural tournament trophy.
For Coach Hollman, the championship represented more than just a win—it was the culmination of a season defined by resilience, discipline, and teamwork. After an early loss by a single point, the team regrouped and decided together: they would not lose again. From that moment forward, they didn’t.
“The way they came together as a team is what made this group special,” Hollman said. “They blended their talents, supported one another, and truly became one unit.”
While the trophy marks a historic milestone for the program, it also reflects the leadership and consistency that Coach Hollman has brought to CCCS for more than a decade and a half.
Sixteen Years of Leadership and Mentorship
For 16 years, Coach Joseph Hollman has been a steady and respected presence at the Chester Community Charter School. Before arriving at CCCS, Hollman built a long professional career in education, finance, and administration, including more than a decade at Cheyney University of Pennsylvania, where he held leadership roles, including Director of Business Support and University Bursar, overseeing major operational and financial functions for the institution.
When he transitioned to CCCS in 2009, he brought with him decades of professional experience and a deep commitment to supporting young people. He initially joined the school as a math tutor, helping middle school scholars strengthen their academic foundations. What began as a classroom support role quickly grew into a broader commitment to the CCCS community.
Over the years, Hollman has served the school in many capacities—including as Dean of Students, a credible messenger, a baseball coach, and a head basketball coach. In each position, he has remained dedicated to guiding scholars not only academically and athletically but also personally.
His coaching philosophy is simple, but powerful.
“First, you have to be a good student,” he often reminds his players. “Then be dedicated, put in the hard work, and never give up.”
That message shapes everything he does as a coach. For Hollman, basketball is about far more than the scoreboard. It is about developing discipline, accountability, and character—values that extend well beyond the court.
He sets clear expectations for his players: maintain strong academics, represent the school with integrity, and always compete with discipline and respect. Hollman believes that excellence in the classroom and strong character off the court are the true foundations of a successful team.
Building Teams—and Young Men
One of Coach Hollman’s greatest strengths has always been his ability to connect with his players. His office door is often open, and athletes regularly stop by to talk, share their day, or simply check in.
When asked what motivates him after so many years of coaching, his answer is immediate.
“I love my athletes and students.”
For Hollman, the most rewarding moments aren’t just championships—they are the small ones: seeing a player grow in confidence, watching teammates support each other, or seeing the pride on their faces after accomplishing something together.
He believes basketball should always remain something positive in their lives.
“The game should be something they enjoy,” he says. “It should teach them lessons that help them succeed long after their time on the court.”
Looking Ahead
After sixteen years, Coach Hollman’s impact on Chester Community Charter School is undeniable. His leadership has helped shape not only successful teams, but generations of scholars who carry the values he instills—discipline, accountability, teamwork, and perseverance.
And while this year’s championship is a proud moment for the program, it is far from the final chapter.
With Coach Hollman still guiding the program, the future of CCCS basketball remains bright. New teams will take the court, new scholars will develop their talents, and the tradition of excellence he has built will continue to grow.
Because at CCCS, the legacy of Coach Joseph Hollman is not just about victories—it’s about the lasting impact he makes on every student he coaches.
Thank you
Coach Joseph Hollman!
